Marathon Finish

Running Accomplishments:

My personal best marathon was my first marathon. I ran the St. George Marathon in 2005, and finished in 3:14. I was hurting at the end, and had to walk too much between miles 22 and 26, but I finished. I had hoped to drop that time in 2006 and qualify for Boston, but hamstring pain and other distractions took their toll and I ended up finishing in 3:25.

Personal Bests:

  • Marathon: 3:14:53 (St. George, 2005)
  • Half Marathon: 1:31:02 (Hobble Creek, 2006)
  • 5K: 19:50 (Murray Fun Days, 2006)
  • 50K: 5:16 (Goblin Valley Ultra, 2006)
I don't know my PB for a 10K, but I've run a 10K in around 38:59, which may or may not be a PB. (I don't really like the 10K distance - too long to be a sprint, and too short to be an endurance run).

Short-Term Running Goals:

Get back into shape.

Long-Term Running Goals:

The Wasatch 100 in under 22 hours. Hell, ANY finish at the Wasatch 100 would be great.

Ran the same route as yesterday, and felt slightly better while doing it. I did, however, get the typical pin prick of pain in my shoulder that always make me think "isn't this a sign of a heart attack?" But since I've had that experienced that pain countless times over the years, and haven't had a heart attack yet I figure it's just how my body responds to pushing beyond my endurance levels.

My time was 19:29, which is almost identical to yesterday (two seconds faster, actually). At this point consistency is A Good Thing, so I'm happy with my time.

hey Kris, nice to see you on the blog again. Been gettin' any peaks this summer?

Oh man, I can't even remember the last peak I stood on that wasn't lift-served.

I enrolled at the University of Utah last fall, and pretty much all of my time is now consumed with work, school, and homework. Oh yeah, and trying to find time to be a Dad. As you can imagine that leaves very little time for doing the fun things. (Well, being a Dad is super fun, but it's tough to haul a 3-year-old up a mountain).

I'm between semesters right now, and next semester I don't have any early morning classes, so I'm hoping to get back into a regularish training routine. I've also been trying to hit The Front a few days a week during my lunch breaks.

It looks like you've been killing the mountains. I'm super jealous. Let me know if you want to do a slow, lazy hike.

Hey I know how that goes. If you ever want to get out early in the AM let me know. I usually have to do that to get anything in these days.
